Matthew Cichero

Consultant Podiatric Surgeon & Specialist in Biomechanics

Mr. Matthew Cichero graduated as a podiatrist in 1996 in Australia, and was awarded the Peer Professional Clinical prize. In 2007, he completed his Masters degree in podiatry specialising in podiatric surgery, and completed his Australian podiatric surgical fellowship in 2011.

Mr. Cichero became the first Australian podiatric surgeon to be awarded dual Fellowship when he was qualified with the Faculty of Podiatric Surgery with the Royal College of Podiatry in 2013.

Previously he has worked establishing clinical services in Singapore and remote indigenous populations in the Northern Territory of Australia. He has also held lecturing positions at the Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia. He was a consultant podiatric surgeon at the Great Western Hospital from 2010-2024 and now works for Independent Health Group and privately at the Matrix Clinic in Wroughton, Swindon.

Mr. Cichero performs around 500 procedures annually. The majority of this surgery is performed on a day-care basis under either local or general anaesthetic. 

His many years working in biomechanics, orthotics and injection therapy gives him a unique insight into the conservative management of many lower limb injuries which can be treated successfully without surgery. He uses evidence-based management treatment for common foot and ankle pathologies such as heel and arch pain.

Mr. Cichero is actively involved in sports such as tennis, triathlons, and surfing giving him an insight into many sports injury management pathways and the needs of an athlete.

Mr Cichero has presented both at national and international conferences and authored a number of peer reviewed international articles.

He is a member of the Royal College of Podiatry as well as being a tutor for the Faculty of Podiatric Surgery. (United Kingdom) He is also a Fellow in Podiatric Medicine (Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (Glasgow)).

Mr. Cichero is able to tailor your care from conservative management: orthotics, through to various treatments including injection therapy and interventional surgical care. Integrity and a personalised service is important to him; ensuring patients feel cared for, empowered and knowledgeable about what their problems and solutions are, and is a core belief of his entire team.


Ben Yates

Consultant Podiatric Surgeon & Specialist in Biomechanics

Mr Ben Yates graduated as a podiatrist in 1989 passing with distinction and clinical prize. He completed his surgical fellowship in 1997 having trained in Northampton and London. He completed his masters degree in Sports injuries and management in 1999. He was a consultant podiatric surgeon at the Great Western Hospital from 2003-2024 and now works for Independent Health Group and privately at Harley Street Specialist Hospital and the Matrix Clinic in Wroughton, Swindon.

He has a particular interest in the surgical management of the diabetic foot and the surgical correction of foot deformity and foot arthritis. He offers patients a holistic approach to the management of their foot and ankle problems as part of a multidisciplinary framework.

In 2020 he received the Meritorious award from the Royal College of Podiatry for outstanding contribution to Podiatric Surgery. In 2019 he was the subject for promoting ACP leading the surgical management of the high-risk foot for Health Education England.

He has lectured at both national and international conferences and contributed to multiple peer reviewed articles. He chaired the UK national conference for Podiatric surgeons in 2011, 2014-2016. He has been the course convener and keynote speaker for postgraduate surgical programmes on forefoot surgery, fusions of the foot, flatfoot surgery, the Diabetic foot and limb salvage both in the UK and overseas. He has participated in charitable surgical programmes in India, Ukraine and Vietnam.


Kelli Cichero

Practice Manager

Kelli manages South West Foot Surgery and holds a Bachelor of Nursing together with a Post Graduate Diploma in Health Promotion in Public Health.

Kelli has extensive experience in both clinical nursing and administrative support services coupled with hospital and nurse education roles in Australia and Singapore. She has also worked in business development with a variety of pharmaceutical companies in Australia, Singapore and in the United Kingdom. This diversity of roles within the healthcare sector has provided her with a broad range of skills and understanding of both business and patient needs.
